Alongside classic Barbera, IL SOGNO Winery is renowned for its distinctive cuvées, which regularly inspire great enthusiasm among renowned sommeliers and wine connoisseurs alike. This unconventional approach initially caused puzzled head-shaking among neighboring winegrowers, and the new vintners were met with amused skepticism, as cuvées are rather unusual for this region.

Yet the growing success of the winery and its winemaker Rudi Längauer has proven them right. Today, even long-established local vintners acknowledge that what he creates is something truly special—remarkably unique and of exceptional quality.

The favorite wine of Rudi Längauer. A cuvée crafted from the finest barrels of Barbera, Freisa, Merlot, and Syrah. Each variety is aged separately in barrique for two years, then carefully assembled and matured for another year in barrique. The cuvée is then bottled and further refined through additional bottle aging.

Only 1,200 bottles of this exceptional jewel are produced each year. Accordingly, demand among renowned restaurants and sommeliers is high, all eager to offer their guests this truly remarkable wine experience.

A fantastic bouquet of ripe black berries with hints of cherry and herbal aromas. Subtle meaty, slightly animal notes accompanied by nuances of leather and delicate tobacco from the barrel. Clear, polished and structured on the palate, with firm, savory fruit, peppery and ethereal herbal notes, and a touch of smoke. Present, ripe tannins provide depth and persistence, while restrained power and a subtle saline minerality unfold in the background. Nuances of cured meat add complexity, leading to a beautiful depth and a truly distinctive finish. Piedmont elegance—unique and unmistakable.

Another highlight from the estate: “Istooh” is a Piedmontese expression of surprise and astonishment. This gold-award-winning organic cuvée is vinified separately and aged for 24 months in different barrique barrels.

The wine is then carefully blended, bottled, and matured for a further two years in bottle before release.

A smoky, slightly toasted and dried-herbal bouquet of ripe berries—predominantly black rather than red—accompanied by hints of pepper, tar, juniper, and subtle minty notes. On the palate, ripe, juicy dark fruit unfolds with a lively touch of acidity and present, well-matured tannins. Nuances of mint and juniper reappear, alongside hints of pepper, smoky and roasted tones. Powerful and persistent, with subtle notes of dark chocolate and coffee in the background, complemented by delicate saline nuances. An experience from Piedmont.

Distinctive and a true highlight both visually and on the palate. Each vintage features a different work of art on the label. IL SOGNO Monferrato Rosso is a wonderful red wine cuvée of Barbera, Freisa, Merlot, and Syrah, with every vintage impressing through its own unique and individual composition.

Currently available in the vintages 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

A rather firm bouquet of black and red berries and cherries, accompanied by herbal and vegetal notes with a hint of juniper. On the palate, savory dark fruit unfolds, supported by bittersweet chocolate tones and smoky, toasted oak spice. Subtle hints of iodine add complexity, while present, slightly sandy tannins provide structure. The alcohol is noticeable yet well integrated, with a touch of peat in the background.
A good to very good finish, slightly drying and marked by subtle woody notes.
