Terra Rossa
The soil in this part of Monferrato is known as Terra Rossa—“red earth”: a sandy clay soil that is extremely difficult to cultivate. Terra Rossa is very dense, and vines need considerable strength to grow here.
This is also the main reason why uniquely good and distinctive wines of outstanding quality can mature in this terroir.
